Wide Leg Jeans

Wide leg jeans are loved for their comfort and style, coming in many denim forms for men and women.

Just as quickly as a particular style goes out, an old style returns to the market. Wide leg jeans have been seen on various celebrities who as we know, often set the tone for the upcoming trends. As with any clothing item, not every style can be worn by all. Wide leg jeans may just be the exception to the rule with their versatility and comfort.

Understanding your body type and the best fit for it is the key to creating a flattering look. For instance, the width of the jean best for you will be determined by your body type. Tall men and women can wear a width as generous as they prefer as it’s not going to matter if the wide leg will make them look shorter.  Anyone with shorter leg length should most definitely not wear an extra wide leg but a slight flare would be fine . The same goes for petite frames. It’s best to go with a mid-range wide leg jean with a very subtle flare to it.

The tip to wearing wide leg jeans well is to find a pair that balances out your body shape and pair it with a complimentary top and belt. Choose a slim shirt to tuck into your jeans or dress it up with a tunic. A wide top will make it appear as though you’re wide all around. Accent the waist with a wide belt to give your physique some shape and define the waist. Tuck your shirt in.

Buy the right style of shoe to go with your wide leg jean. Tall women should top off their look with heels and if you are shorter, buy a pair of flats or sandals. Your hem should just barely touch the floor when you walk with your shoes on. Wide leg jeans really wouldn’t work with tall boots and would be difficult to tuck in without bunching up. Ankle boots are a much better option as you can wear the pants outside of them.

Wide leg jeans are perfect for men who need to steer clear of tight fitting, super skinny jeans. They just don’t look right. Styles that look best on men are bold with well place pockets and bold stitching to match. As always comfort is a requirement and an oversize pant can be pulled off quite well.

Wide leg jeans continue to rein and provide a simple but trendy look when fitted correctly. They offer more comfort than the very tight skinny jean and give a little more breathing room. We expect a lot of our jeans in that we want them to be flattering, comfortable and look great. Try on at least half a dozen different brands before making your decision. It’s impossible to know which fit is best for you just by looking at them on the rack, once you have them on it’s a whole different ball game.

Wide leg jeans aren’t specific to any designer or manufacturer and most brand names will have them in their line. The budget conscious can shop Target or JC Penny and designer brands are obtainable through places like Gap, Nordstrom,
